Obituary of Marcel M Copt

Marcel M. Copt Age 94 – Raritan Marcel Copt, 94, died May 15, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Queens, N.Y. on December 31, 1921 to the late Julia (nee Rosern) and Julian Copt and was a lifelong resident of Raritan. Marcel began his career as a tool and dye maker after graduation from a technical trade school. When WWII broke out, he was drafted into the Army Air Corp and became a top turret gunner flying 32 missions over Germany in a B17. During his military career, Marcel earned the Air Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross with 2 oak leaf clusters. Upon his discharge from the military, he married his wife Laura in 1945, built their home in Raritan, and raised three children. Marcel owned and operated Mart Machine until his retirement at the age of 70. After retirement, Marcel and Laura traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe particularly Switzerland, the place of his parents' birth. When Laura died in 2001 after 56 years of marriage, Marcel continued to travel with his children and grandchildren to Western and Eastern Europe and Egypt. Marcel was a kind, caring person, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Marcel is survived by his dear sons Roger Copt (Judith) of Raritan, Raymond Copt of Three Bridges, his loving daughter Patricia Concannon (Dennis) of Neshanic Station, 5 cherished grandchildren, Melissa, Michael (Jenny), Ryan, Dennis and Sean, and 2 adored great-grandchildren Sienna and Gabrielle. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Eleanor "Laura" (Leoncavallo) Copt and his dear parents.
