Obituary of Mary Hliva

Martinsville - Mary A. Hliva, 96, longtime resident of Martinsville, died on February 25, 2017. She was born on January 21, 1921 to the late Edvice and Peter Della Bella in Raritan NJ. She was the loving wife of Charles J. Hliva who died in 1996. Mary was employed by Unisys Corp. where she retired. She enjoyed working for the Somerset County Board of Elections for many years. Mary was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church of Martinsville, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She loved music,dancing and played the piano. Mary will be most remembered as a wonderful person who opened her heart to everyone. She was a kind, caring Mother. She loved cooking and sharing her Italian specialty dishes with her family and friends. Toward the latter part of her life, she was blessed to have the company, compassion and love of her children Mary is survived by her children, Eileen, Anita and Charles M Hliva; grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. We will be celebrating the many gifts that Mary's life brought us. A viewing will be held from 3-7 PM on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Bongiovi Funeral Home, 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ (908) 725-1887. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 2, 2017, beginning with a funeral liturgy 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1890 Washington Valley Road, Martinsville, NJ followed by a burial at St. Bernard's Cemetery , Bridgewater, NJ.
