Obituary of Magdalena S. Rodriguez

BRIDGEWATER-          Magdalena S. Rodriguez, 92, Friday, September 18, 2020.  She was born on November 19, 1927 in Havana, Cuba to the late Carmen and Mario Alfonso.

Magdalena married the love of her life Argimiro Rodriguez on August 6, 1948.  Together they raised their family of 4 children.  Magdalena left Cuba in 1961 to live in Spain.  It was in Spain where her daughter was born.  In 1965 she applied for U.S. citizenship and moved to NY and then in 1992 to NJ.  She worked as a cashier for various places over the years.  Magdalena enjoyed running volunteer activities at Centerbridge for many years.  She was woman who cherished family and friends.  All who knew Magdalena will miss her gentle smile.

Magdalena is survived by her beloved children Argimiro Rodriguez (Mary), Manuel R. Alfonso and Magdalena Renna (Peter), her loving grandchildren Liza Krontilik (Scott), Cristopher Rodriguez (Eliza Carson Demeri), Christina Alfonso (Christian), Paul Alfonso, Melina Melkonian, Daniel Renna, Nicole Renna and Lauren Renna, cherished great grandchildren Dylan Krontilik, Dean Krontilik, Hailee Perez and Christian Carson-Rodriguez, a daughter-in-law Sylvia Rodriguez and her cat which she adored Tammy.  She is predeceased by her husband, a son Mario Rodriguez and a brother Jorge.

Visitation will be Friday, September 25, 2020 from 1:00pm to 3:30pm and 6:30pm to 9:00pm at Bongiovi Funeral Home 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ (908) 725-1887.  Funeral Mass 10:00am will be Saturday, September 26, 2020 at St. Bernard of Clairvaux RC Church 500 US-22, Bridgewater, NJ followed by a burial at Calvary Cemetery 49-02 Laurel Hill Blvd., Queens, NY.
