Obituary of John J. Zakzewski

It is with profound sadness that the family of John J. Zakzewski, Jr. announce his peaceful passing on October 30 in Brick Township, at the age of 59 years.  John grew up in Bridgewater, where he lived for most of his life.  He will be remembered by his longtime friend and companion, Mary M. Giraldi; brother, Joseph Zakzewski and his wife, Christine; brother, James Zakzewski; nephews, Daniel, Benjamin, and Joseph, niece, Jessica; as well as numerous relatives and friends.  He was predeceased by his mother Josephine Benincasa and by his father John Zakzewski.

John was a sports enthusiast who loved watching sports with his many friends.  He was a gifted athlete in his youth, playing baseball, wrestling, and lifting weights.  John worked for many years at Shop Rite, where he enjoyed interacting with the customers.  John loved animals and he supported his local animal shelter when he was able.  His friends describe him as having a good heart.  He will be missed.      

A Memorial service will be held at 9:00 am-12:00 pm, on Saturday November 13, 2021, at Bongiovi Funeral Home, 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ.  A committal service will be conducted the same day at 12:15 pm at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, 551 Rt 28, Bridgewater, NJ.
