Obituary of Mona Sofie Mikalsen

RARITAN-  “Loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend” Mona Sofie Mikalsen, PhD, 63 died on November 3, 2021.  She was born on August 18, 1958 to the late Muriel and Einar Mikalsen in Suffern, NY.

Mona was a very charitable person.  She established a foundation in which medical equipment and supplies were distributed for the children of Chernobyl in the Ukraine.  Mona worked with Samaritan purse charity and raised over $76 million dollars for worldwide services.  She will be remembered as a kind, caring and generous person with a host of many friends including her best friends Darlyne Pieper and Bruce Caribelli.  Dr. Mona’s dynamic personality will be missed by all who knew her.

Mona is survived by her brother Paul (Cathleen), nieces Christine Mikalsen and Amy Mikalsen, great nephew Christian.  She is predeceased by her parents, and brother Harold.

Visitation from 2:00pm to 6:00pm on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the funeral home.  Funeral services Monday, November 15, 2021 beginning with a visitation from 10:30am to 12:00pm at the funeral home followed by burial at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bernardsville, NJ.
