Aunt Alice was and is laughter, unconditional generosity, passion for life, love of travel, abundant energy, unapologetic truth, and overflowing love.
Each time I stayed or stopped by her apartment, she was so eager to share good food and to listen to my music. She received each song with attentiveness, and responded with truthful opinions. The last time I was over at her apartment was still in the height of the pandemic, and I hold a fond memory of sitting on the balcony with her sitting inside so I could safely take my mask off to breathe deeper and articulate the lyrics. She was and is one of my biggest cheerleaders, and I always knew it was coming from a grounded and authentic place.
I will miss being able to hug her physical body, to clearly hear her raspy and passionate voice.
She’s already visited me spiritually, and I can feel her freedom. I can feel her and my Nana (Carol) dancing together with no pain and no shame. I can feel her deep in the embrace of Uncle Bob, never needing to leave it again.
