Obituary of John Joseph Bogan

John “Jack” Bogan Sr., age 92, died peacefully Thursday June 8, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. John was born on June 6, 1931 in Jersey City New Jersey to his loving parents Mary McCabe McKim and Edward Bogan.
John married the love of his life, Maryanne Daly on April 23, 1955 and together they raised 5 wonderful children. John took some classes at Seton Hall University and would later be employed for over 38 years as a manager of Bell Atlantic located in Newark NJ. He loved his country and served honorably in the United States Army and Army Reserves, attaining the rank of Corporal, between the dates of March 1951 and December 1956. John was a devout Catholic and a parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville NJ. He was also a member of the Martinsville Knights of Columbus #5959. John was a leading member and advocate for New Jersey Right to Life and was a past state treasurer and state board member for this group. He was also a past president of the Essex County and Somerset County Right to Life organizations. John was an avid golfer and a huge fan of Rutgers Football. Most of all John was a family man. He loved his wife with all his heart and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. John will be missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Maryann (Daly) Bogan, his loving daughters Mary Ellen (Claude) Frank, Kathleen , Nancy (Neil) Delaney and Peggy Anne (Gary) Bond. He is also survived by the joys of his life his 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Erin (Mateo) Rico, Keith, Brittany, Colleen (fiancé Tim), and Garrett. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Victoria Bogan, Barbara Bogan and Ann Bogan and his brothers Joseph (Mary Ellen) Bogan, Bernard Bogan, Gerard Bogan, Stephan Bogan and sister Patricia (Allen) Acken and Sr. Maria Joseph O.P.
John was predeceased by his son, John J Bogan Jr. (2021) and brothers Edward, Thomas, William, Vincent and sister Mary Scibetta.
Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday June 13, 2023, 8:00am - 9:15am at the Bongiovi Funeral Home 416 Bell Avenue Raritan NJ (908)725-1887 followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Blessed Sacrament Church 1890 Washington Valley Road Martinsville NJ. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery 145 Mt Airy Road Basking Ridge NJ.
