Obituary of Deborah Anne Gottier
Deborah Anne (Bourgun) Gottier
Deborah (Bourgun) Gottier, 59, formerly of Norwich, CT, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Raritan, NJ on June 5, 2023.
Born August 5, 1963 in Teaneck, NJ, Deb was the daughter of William Bourgun and Marilyn (Kuzma) Bourgun.
Deb graduated in 1981 from Norwich Regional Vocational Technical School as Salutatorian and held a diploma in Electronics. Deb has worked for Cyto Medical Labs, Pepperidge Farms, and Roche Biomedical Labs before being transferred to LabCorp Pharmaceuticals in New Jersey where she has worked as a Senior EDI Specialist for the last 10 years.
Deb was known to be a very quiet and reserved person and she had many interests few knew about. She loved to bake and cook and volunteered her time at a nearby bakery during the holiday season. She loved learning and took college courses in Psychology and Spanish in her spare time. She was teaching herself German and Hawaiian with Rosetta Stone and Duolingo. She enjoyed taking Zumba and Hula classes. She enjoyed taking the train into Manhattan to take classes and shop. Deb didn't have a car, so she walked, accepted rides from friends, or took the train and bus. Some people in town knew her as "That lady who walks everywhere". She loved to read and always had a book with her on the bus or the train. She was very knowledgeable on a variety of subjects and would always help in finding answers to most questions. Deb was a supporter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Organization. She loved Star Trek, Harry Potter, and Curious George. She enjoyed the music of BonJovi, Chris DeBurgh, various Hawaiian artists, and Putumayo World Music. She was generous and kind and would help others whenever she could. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Deb is preceded in death by her father, William Bourgun. She is survived by her mother, Marilyn Bourgun of CT, her sisters Naomi Thomas and husband Virgil of NY, Sharon Meattey and husband Edward of MA, Harriet Krajewski and husband Stephen of CT, and her brother Adam Bourgun of CT.
Per Deb's request, there will be no funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers she has asked that a donation be made to the charitable organization of your choosing.
