Obituary of Donald P. Pernini

Raritan, NJ – Donald Pernini, 84, died on Saturday, September 16, 2023.  He was born to the late Tillie and Colombo Pernini in Bound Brook, NJ on July 28, 1939.  Don was predeceased by his parents and sister “Little Tillie”.  Don and his family were lifelong residents of Raritan.

Don was employed by Verizon for 37 years.  His family was at the very core of his heart. Don and his beloved wife Barbara, of 65 years, were high school sweethearts.  His cherished sons Brent (Polly) Pernini and Robert (Debbie Bylina).  Don’s loving grandchildren Brandon (Rachel) Pernini, Eric Pernini (fiancée Jaclyn Stagg), Ashley Lynn and Maggie Elizabeth Pernini. Adoring great-granddaughters Alaina Kay and Eleanor Beth Pernini, brother Rudolph (Barbara) Pernini and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Don always had a project and liked to keep busy.  He was Mr. Fix It! and could fix just about anything.

Don was a devoted lifelong parishioner of The Catholic Church of St. Ann.  Hunting was one of his favorite past times. Don enjoyed going to Canada moose hunting. He was a member of the Raritan Bow and Gun Club.  For 30 years Don and his family vacationed in Lake George, NY.  He was a true craftsman, refurbishing an antique Garwood boat, which they enjoyed countless times water skiing on the lake.  After retiring Don and Barbara became snowbirds, travelling for a few months each year spending their time together at the Royal Pelicane, in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. Many fond memories were made over the years with friends, dancing, and listening to music.  A true patriot, Don made it a tradition to attend the Basilone Parade each year.

Visitation will be Friday, September 22, 2023 from 4-8PM and Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 9- 10:15 AM  at Bongiovi Funeral Home, 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ (908)725-1887.  Funeral Mass on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 11 AM, Catholic Church of St. Ann, 45 Anderson Street, Raritan, NJ.  Burial will be private.
