Obituary of Patricia Susan Leckman

Raritan - Patricia Susan Leckman, 74, died on January 15, 2024.  She was born on September 7, 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to her parents Charles and Anne  Diederich.

She is survived by her daughter Judith (Judy) Mason from Raritan, NJ with grandchildren Caleb Mason (23) NJ, Abigail (Abby) Mason (21) Raritan NJ, and Alexandra (Lexi) Mason (18) Raritan NJ, her daughter Catherine (Katie) Leckman from Colorado with grandchildren Thomas Reynolds (21) CO, Peyton Reynolds (19) CO, and Tristan Reynolds (12) CO, and her sister Phyllis Szwaczkowski (Clyde) of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania with nieces and nephews.  Pat was predeceased by her parents.

She was loving, kind, thoughtful, and caring, and she enjoyed cooking, knitting, sewing, reading, and caring for her grandchildren. She was a girl scout troop leader for her granddaughters and also volunteered with the boy scouts.  Pat’s family meant the world to her.

Pat was accepted early admittance to the University of Pittsburgh at 17 years old as a high school junior. She received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

She was the manager of her husband's medical practice for many years in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was one of the first to implement computers for medical records in the early 1980's using a large mainframe computer system. She was the president of the regional medical computer user group and spoke at many conferences. 

She was the president of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for her daughters' elementary school for several years. She also organized local arts events including several ballets and concerts by visiting musicians including Luciano Pavarotti, and she supported the creation of the Lawton Percussive Arts Society Museum.  

Pat retired in 1995 and came to live with her daughter, Judy, and her grandchildren in 2005 in Arizona just before her granddaughter Lexi was born. The family moved to Raritan, NJ in 2008.

Viewing will take place on Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 2 PM - 5 PM, at Bongiovi Funeral Home, 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ.
