MARIA CERNE DIBLASIO
AGE: 86, BRIDGEWATER
Maria Cerne DiBlasio, 86, died on July 8, 2024 in Bridgewater surrounded by her beloved family members. She was born in Silvi, Italy on May 14, 1938 to her parents Alberto and Filomena Eolini Cerne. In Italy, she worked at a shoe factory and a licorice factory. In 1972, Maria immigrated from Italy with her husband, Orlando, and son, Alberto, and lived in Raritan, then later moved to Bridgewater. She started working for Jelco (J&J) in Raritan and later retired as a home-maker. She always enjoyed gardening and yard work. Maria was very creative and enjoyed painting and also enjoyed taking long walks with her grandchildren when they were young. She also devoted her time to babysitting her grandchildren and would teach them many life skills such as how to bake, cook, raise chickens, rabbits and ducks which the kids loved along with playing with their family dogs. She also taught them how to make pizzelles, their favorite cookies by Grandma. Later, she enjoyed all the talents and achievements accomplished by her grandchildren and was very proud of them. Maria was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a dear sister, and a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother.
Maria loved her native country, Italy, where all of her family resided, and additionally she appreciated America for all the opportunities. She always looked forward to traveling and visiting her family.
Maria was a strong, caring, generous person with a great sense of humor, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Maria was predeceased by her husband, Orlando, and is survived by her loving son, Alberto and his wife Justine DiBlasio of Bridgewater; three wonderful grandchildren, Kerilee Pollack and her husband Brian, Vynessa, and Devin DiBlasio; five great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Kamryn, Olivia, Jayci and Conner. Additionally, her brother Fortunato and his wife Annacleta, her sisters Concettina, Giuseppina and Guiliana and their families along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Italy.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Bongiovi Funeral Home, 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ 08869 (908-725-1887). Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Maria's memory to the Alzheimer’s Association by going to their website at alz.org/donate OR call 800-272-3900.
